The principle of Banana Tea is the same as any "herbal tea" and this is that you let the "media" (in this case a banana) steep in warm or hot water to draw out potential beneficial water-soluble nutrients such as vitamin B6, potassium, magnesium, manganese, and copper etc.

Steeping for longer can increase the concentration of nutrients in the tea. (the same as any herb)

There are 3 main ways to make Banana Tea:

Which ever way you choose, please seriously consider using organic Bananas.

  • Dried Banana Slices
  • Regular Banana Slices
  • Banana Skins

  • [1] Dried Banana Slices

    You can either buy banana slices from a supermarket or you can make your own IF you have a vegetable / food dehydrator.

    • Simply add 6-10 dried banana slices into a tea pot
    • Add boiling water and leave "steep" for 10-20 minutes.
    • Pour into a clean cup and enjoy the fragrant flavour.

    [2] Regular Banana Slices

    • Take 1 organic banana and peel the skin off.
    • Cut 6-10 thin slices approx 5 mm thick and put into a tea pot.
    • Add boiling water and leave "steep" for 10-20 minutes.
    • Pour into a clean cup and enjoy the fragrant flavour.

    [3] Banana Skins

    • You definately need to use organic bananas for this one please.
    • Peel 1 organic Banana and cut the top and bottom off the peel.
    • Cut the peel in half and then cut the half into very thin slices.
    • Put these thin slices into a tea pot.
    • Add boiling water and leave "steep" for 10-20 minutes.
    • Pour into a clean cup and enjoy the fragrant flavour.

    Banana Cinnamon Tea

    Cinnamon is great because it is one of the best natural ways to balance blood sugar levels so when blood sugar levels are balanced, your hormones can function in a way that allows for better sleep.

    • There are 2 main types of commercial cinnamon available. One is safe and the other is not.
    • If you are concerned about sugar of any kind, you may consider adding some CEYLON (or SRI LANKA) cinnamon to your banana meal as cinnamon helps stabilise blood sugars.
    • WARNING: Avoid Cassia cinnamon please.
