In the world of Banana Commerce, by far the most important current cultivars (Bananas) belong to the triploid AAA group of Musa acuminata, commonly referred to as Cavendish Bananas. Cavendish Bananas account for the majority of current (circa 2018) banana transactions including domestic sales and exports, despite only coming into existence around the 1830's. The fruit of the Cavendish bananas range up to 25 cm in length, and are thin skinned.
Each healthy plant can bear up to 90 fingers (individual bananas).
